UNIT DIRECTOR - Chuck Vaughn     (Chuck's Message)

Unit Directors Message:

Our association is unlike virtually any other in that there are a finite number of special men who can belong to it.  From October 15, 1967 to October 25, 1971, first, Company E (Long Range Patrol) 20th Infantry (Airborne) and then from February 1, 1969, Company C (Ranger) 75th Infantry (Airborne) was one of the most successful units in the Vietnam War.  During that time approximately 1200 men served in our company and established a record unmatched during that conflict.  If you were a member of our company then you are a part of history and you may elect to continue your association with the unit and the men who were indeed the “best of the best.”

To become a member go to our web page (e20-lrp-c75-rgr.org) and click on the membership section to view the registration form.  Print the form, complete it and mail it to our Secretary, Cal “Preacher” Rollins with copies of orders, personal verification by a current member, or phone one of our officers to have him check our master roster of Echo LRP/Charlie RGR veterans.  If you are already listed, the registration form is not required, but is still requested in order to keep our records current.  Cal Rollins’ contact information is listed under the “Membership” section and all association officers contact information is listed under the “Officers and Committees” section.  As a former member of our unit during the Vietnam War, you are also eligible for membership and encouraged to join the 75th Ranger Regiment Association, whose website you are currently viewing.

Please review all the pages on our Echo LRP/Charlie RGR website, especially the “Our Wall” page of the “Photo Archive” section.  It has taken many years to find a picture of every one of the men who gave their lives for their friends and their country while serving with us, and they deserve to be remembered.  At our biannual Reunion and business meeting, held in the summer of odd-numbered years, we conduct a memorial service to honor our fallen brothers and all members who attend the Reunion take part.  This is a very moving and important event for all of us.  Let us never forget!

If you decide to join us, please forward a picture of yourself from your Vietnam era along with a current photo to our founder, webmaster, and President Emeritus, Daniel Pope.  They will be placed in the “Then and Now” section of our “Photo Archive” and we can laugh or cry with you the next time we see you, because you don’t look quite as “lean and mean” as you did during another time in another place.

RLTW and Sua Sponte,

Past President, Steven “Doc” Gove
